Program Snapshot

  • Meet with the Nurse Educator Mentor (NEM) to assess the RN’s learning needs and establish a personalized developmental plan. This will be apart of the initial 2-4 week orientation of their role as a CHN within the context of their home community.
  • Following orientation, the RN will begin acquiring competencies in specific areas through clinical learning rotations. These rotations may occur in Regional or Territorial facilities
  • Following each clinical learning rotation, the RN will return to their health centre in order to consolidate their newly acquired skill-set. This is a vital component in developing the relationship and trust between Nurse and the community in which they serve
  • Several courses will be recommended as part of the Development Plan (e.g. ITLS, ACLS, PALS) and will be coordinated for each RN
