Human Resources Manual - Print Edition

When printing the Human Resources Manual, be sure to follow the detailed instructions below in order to ensure optimal print quality.

In addition to the online edition, the Human Resources Manual is also available in a print edition that is automatically generated from the online edition from time to time. Please be aware that formatting discrepancies may exist between the printed and online editions of the Human Resources Manual. See the introductory section of the print edition, About the Print Edition of the HRM for more information.

While every effort is made to ensure that individual sections of the Human Resource Manual print well, at present it is impossible to provide a coherent presentation of the manual as a whole for printing directly from the user's browser. This might be possible in the event that implementation of the W3C CSS3 Paged Media Module becomes not only commonplace, but also consistent from a behavioral standpoint; however at this point we feel that it is preferable to provide a rendering of the Human Resources Manual using one implementation of the aforementioned module.

Please be aware that the print edition of the Human Resources Manual is approximately 700 pages long, and may take several minutes to download depending on your connection speed.

Printing Guidelines and Instructions

The print edition of the Human Resources Manual is designed to be printed with a duplex printer, or on both sides of the page. To configure your printer to print duplex sheets, click File, then Print. Once the printing dialog appears, click Properties next to the printer selection dropdown. If your printer is capable of duplex printing, an option called Flip on Long Edge should be available, probably under a tab called Layout.

In addition, great care has gone into formatting the print edition to provide an optimal print presentation - for example, the left and right margins of the page are slightly wider as appropriate in order to better accomodate binding techniques, such as three hole punch paper or sirlex.

In order to preserve this formatting when printing, please ensure that the Page Scaling and Auto-Rotate and Center features are disabled (if present) in the Page Handling options.

If you continue to experience difficulties printing the HRM, please verify that the correct drivers for your printer have been installed, as the use of incorrect drivers may significantly affect your results.
