Graduate Employment for Nurses
Through mentorship-based training and assistance, northern nursing graduates are able to work with Registered Nurses and professional medical staff in a positive healthcare environment until they receive a passing mark on the Canadian Registered Nurses Exam, and obtain active practicing registration with RNANT/NU.
Northern graduates from recognized post-secondary nursing programs are guaranteed employment with the GNWT. Please note that even though employment for northern nursing graduates is guaranteed, you still need be found qualified and suitable for positions you apply for.
Eligibility Criteria:
- you must meet the definition of a northern graduate;
- you must have completed your post-secondary program within the six months prior to being hired;
- your post-secondary program must be one of at least 4 semesters in length resulting in a college diploma or university diploma or degree; and
- you must have been registered in a full course load (normally 3 courses per semester) for the two semesters prior to graduating (accommodation can be made to recognize special circumstances for disabled students).
How to Apply:
- Expressions of Interest Forms received on or before January 31 of each year will be given first consideration for available positions.
- Send your completed Expression of Interest Form, along with a current resume, to the Graduate/Student Recruitment Support Officer at the Department of Human Resources.
- Once the Graduate/Student Recruitment Support Officer receives your Expression of Interest Form, they will contact you with further information.
- The Graduate/Student Recruitment Support Officer will arrange an interview to assess personal suitability. As with all staffing in the GNWT, the Affirmative Action Policy is applied in staffing positions.
