Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training

Welcome to the Government of the Northwest Territories Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training

If you are a GNWT employee and want to take the Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training then you must register for the Training through the GNWT Learning and Development Calendar in order to get credit for the training.

Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training not only provides GNWT employees with information and context for the communities and regions we live in and residents we serve. It also gives those people who may wish to move to the north, more information about the people who live here. Its content is northern specific and provides historical information on government and Aboriginal relationships.

Although the training is for GNWT employees through the GNWT Learning and Development Calendar it is also available for viewing by the general public.

Diversity and inclusion are crucial aspects of a strong and stable public service. This training increases understanding about Aboriginal culture, enhances awareness, and promotes a spirit of inclusion. This training also reaffirms Aboriginal values and partnerships as a key foundation of the GNWT, based on respect, recognition and responsibility.
